Special ultrasonic baths for gentle removal of biofilms
The success of therapy for implant infections depends on a precise microbiological diagnosis. Because microorganisms form biofilms on foreign parts, they are often difficult to detect in surrounding tissue. Therapy is therefore only possible to a limited extent.
With the help of the BactoSonic ultrasonic special bath, biofilms can be gently removed from the surface of an infected implant. Compared to other ultrasound baths, the device works with low-frequency ultrasound at low intensity. As a result, the detached microorganisms are not destroyed, but remain intact for the subsequent microbiological analysis.
In accordance with the scientifically based procedure, the implant is placed in a box included in the delivery, covered with liquid and sonified in the BactoSonic ultrasonic special bath. The obtained liquid is microbiologically processed and the amount of bacteria is quantitatively indicated. Up to 10,000 times more bacteria can be detected than with conventional methods, such as from biopsies of periprosthetic tissue. Mixed infections and different bacterial morphotypes can be better detected. Sensitivity is particularly improved in patients with previous antibiotic therapy. Internal dimensions l × w × d: 325 x 300 x 150 mm Outlet: ball valve G ½, left side
