Visual colour measurement / Lovibond® Comparator 2000 Iodine (AF333)

The Comparator System 2000 is based on a versatile 2-field visual comparator with optional illumination unit to ensure correct lighting conditions for colour grading and colorimetric analysis. Sample colour is visually matched in the comparator with graduated coloured glass filters in Lovibond® test discs.

Colour grading according to the iodine colour scale (DIN 6162)

The iodine colour scale according to DIN 6162 varies from yellow to brown, defined by special dilutions of an iodine solution, from 1 for the lightest colour to 500 for the darkest. It is mainly used in European countries for solvents, plasticisers, resins, oils and fatty acids. For colours that reach the value of 1 or below on the iodine scale, the platinum-cobalt units apply.

Based on the Lovibond® Comparator System 2000, this kit is a convenient way to order the full range of equipment needed to classify samples by iodine colour number. It contains three discs for colour grading, each with colour-stable glass standards representing a portion of the iodine colour scale. The sample (in a 25 mm or 10 mm glass cuvette) is viewed in the comparator with the appropriate test disc until a colour match is obtained.
